Since the launch of Campaign 4, fresh DM Brennan Mulligan has maintained audience suspense with rich lore, a wide array of heroes, and a exciting storyline featuring angels, fiends, and dark forces growing in power within the urban setting.
Note: Key plot points for the third episode of this adventure lie ahead.
The Warrior Group Introduced
The third episode ended with a major cliffhanger and introduced the initial group of heroes who will split off from the main group to embark on their own adventure, separate from the remaining groups.
This warrior group includes the determined fighter (brought to life by Travis), Thimble (the talented performer), the strong-willed figure (the cast member), Wicander Halovar (the player), and Kattigan (Robbie Daymond).
Why Split the Party?
Considering a large ensemble, it was clear from the beginning that keeping everyone at one table would be unworkable.
That’s why, the initial installments of Campaign 4 serve as an Prelude, intertwining the personal journeys before branching into three distinct groups: Soldiers, Strategists, and Seekers.
The Nature of the Soldiers Table
Per Brennan Lee Mulligan, the Soldiers table is for adventurers who are drawn to a traditionally charged combat and conflict-driven narrative style where non-violent answers are rare.
Initially, characters like the reluctant priest Wicander Halovar might appear out of place, but the actions of the third episode show why these five characters are perfectly fit for the warrior group.
Reasons to Leave
First, the team knows exactly where to head next after a intense opening clash with The Crow Keepers.
Casimir of Thjazi Fang—whose death initiated the story’s plot—exploited The Crow Keepers for his personal gain, breaking into the secret base, assaulting the character, and taking all the magical artifacts to auction.
Casimir then cleared his debts and ran away to a fortified location in Gormalay, Timmony, beyond the urban center, with Cyd Pridesire pursuing him.
Character Drivers
Additionally, each member has a personal reason to leave the city the metropolitan area:
- The rogue, as Thjazi’s partner and best friend, seeks vengeance.
- The knowledgeable figure knows Timmony and advises that it is a hostile location.
- Tyranny and Wicander, having disobeyed his family’s wishes to execute Teor and instead freed him, have nowhere else to go.
- Yet, their position as important members in the influential clan could enable the party reach places they typically wouldn’t be able to.
- Furthermore, The fighter vowed a unbreakable promise to The savior for his salvation and will now accompany him wherever.
Pursued by Authorities
In addition, all of them are hunted by the authorities that control Dol-Makjar for a range of causes, making staying in the city dangerous:
- The rogue and Kattigan are known criminals.
- The strong figure and Wicander turned against the powerful family and the legion of demons they are partnered with.
- Teor is wanted dead by the clan.
This means them no alternative but to journey toward the remote area in search of the traitor.
Upcoming Developments
Based on the latest episode’s Cooldown, we find out that the Soldiers table won’t be around next week, leaving the remaining eight participants to assemble the Seekers and Planners parties.
Viewers can expect finding out which players will be in which group in the season’s last Overture episode, released on October 24.
